How are unit conversions calculated?
Length, weight, and volume are converted by first expressing the value in a standard unit (meters, grams, liters), then converting to the target unit. Temperature isn't proportional, so it uses a separate formula based on Celsius.
What's the formula for converting Fahrenheit to Celsius?
Celsius = (Fahrenheit − 32) × 5 / 9. To go the other way, Fahrenheit = Celsius × 9 / 5 + 32.
Are US and UK units different?
This calculator uses the widely used US customary volume units (fluid ounce, gallon, cup). UK (imperial) units can differ slightly in value.
Why do some results show many decimal places?
