Frequently asked questions
Is my uploaded image sent to a server?
No. Color extraction happens entirely in your browser, and the image is never sent to a server.
How are the colors extracted?
The image is downsized, then its pixel colors are grouped into similar buckets, and the average color of the most common buckets is shown, ordered by how much of the image they cover. Very small or near-single-color images may return fewer distinct colors than you requested.
Can I change how many colors are extracted?
Yes. Choose anywhere from 4 to 8 colors, and the same image is re-analyzed instantly.
What does the percentage next to each color mean?
It's the approximate share of the image's pixels that fall into that color — a higher percentage means that color covers more of the image.
