Frequently asked questions

How are the available voices and languages decided?

This tool has no voice engine of its own — it only uses whatever voices are already installed in your browser and operating system. Available languages and voices therefore vary by device. If the language you want isn't listed, you may need to install an additional voice/language pack in your OS settings.

Can I save the speech as an audio file?

No. The browser's speech synthesis API only plays sound through your speakers — it doesn't offer a way to export audio files. If you need a recording, you'd need to pair this with a separate screen/audio recording tool.

What happens if I edit the text while it's speaking?

Editing the text immediately stops whatever was playing and resets playback. You'll need to press Play again to start reading the new text — the old text will never keep playing in the background.

Is the text I type sent to a server?

No. Speech synthesis happens entirely inside your browser, and the text you type is never sent to any server.
