PCB Impedance Calculator
Calculate microstrip trace impedance from board stack-up dimensions.
Result
67.452 Ω
Usage examples
Checking the characteristic impedance of a high-speed signal line
Calculate a single microstrip trace's characteristic impedance from your board's stack-up and trace width to check signal integrity.
Designing a trace width to hit a target like 50Ω
Enter your desired impedance to work backward to the trace width that achieves it, right from the early stages of PCB layout.
Seeing how substrate thickness affects impedance
Quickly compare how impedance shifts for the same trace width as you change the stack-up height.
Frequently asked questions
Is my input sent to a server?
No. All calculations happen entirely in your browser.
What formula does this use?
It uses the IPC-2141-derived single-ended microstrip characteristic impedance approximation (the Hammerstad equation), the same family of formula used by most online PCB impedance calculators.
Can the result differ from what I actually get manufactured?
Yes. This formula is an approximation, and real impedance depends on your board manufacturer's process variation and the actual measured dielectric constant. For tightly controlled impedance, use your PCB manufacturer's own impedance calculation service.
Does this calculate differential impedance too?
No. This tool only calculates single-ended microstrip impedance.
