Reading a document's content without Word installed
On a device without Word, read the text inside a .docx file using nothing but your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Is my uploaded document sent to a server?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser, and the file is never sent to a server.
Do tables and images carry over too?
Getting Markdown keeps headings, bold/italic, and list structure, but tables and images are outside this tool's scope — it's built for cleanly reusing the body text.
The conversion looks a bit different from the original.
If your document has unusual formatting or elements that aren't supported, a note about it appears below the result. This works most accurately on ordinary headings, paragraphs, and lists rather than complex layouts.
Does this support the old .doc format?
No, only the .docx format used since Word 2007. For an old .doc file, save it as .docx in Word first, then use it here.
