Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser (decoding runs in a separate web worker), and the photo is never sent to a server.
Why can't I see a preview of the original HEIC photo?
HEIC can't be rendered directly by browsers outside of Apple devices (iPhone, Mac). So the original panel only shows the file name and size, while the preview appears once the JPG/PNG result is ready.
Does this work with Live Photos or burst shots?
This tool converts a single still image. HEIC files containing a Live Photo's video portion or multiple burst-shot frames may not convert correctly.
I'm getting a conversion failure.
The file may be corrupted, or it could be an unusual HEIC variant from software other than the Photos app. Try again with a photo shared directly from an iPhone (AirDrop, Messages, etc.).
