Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. Both extraction and conversion happen entirely in your browser, and the file is never sent to a server.

Does content with tables or multiple columns land in separate cells?

No. This tool doesn't detect tables or column structure. Each line of the PDF goes into a single cell in column A as-is — content that looked like multiple columns ends up merged as text in one cell. Rather than attempting fragile table detection, this takes the simple, predictable approach of extracting line by line.

Will a scanned image PDF convert too?

No. A PDF that's just a scanned image with no real text has nothing to extract, so you'll get an empty file. This only works properly on PDFs where the text can be selected.

What library does this use?

Instead of a dedicated Excel library, the Excel file format (OOXML) is assembled directly using only a zip library with no known vulnerabilities.
