Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. Both extraction and conversion happen entirely in your browser, and the file is never sent to a server.

Is the original formatting and images carried over too?

No. This tool extracts text only. Fonts, tables, images, and spacing aren't preserved — you get a Word document filled with plain text, line by line.

Will a scanned image PDF convert too?

No. A PDF that's just a scanned image with no real text has nothing to extract, so you'll get an empty document. This only works properly on PDFs where the text can be selected.

How are page breaks handled?

A page break is inserted between each original PDF page, so the page structure carries over roughly into Word.
