Usage examples

Previewing a 3D model before importing it elsewhere

Spin an OBJ model around in your browser to check its shape before bringing it into a 3D editor or game engine.

Quickly opening a 3D model file you received

Open a shared OBJ file right away to check its shape, without installing dedicated 3D software.

Checking model size and vertex count

Check the model's overall dimensions (X/Y/Z) and vertex count to gauge its complexity.

Frequently asked questions

Is my uploaded file sent to a server?

No. Reading and rendering the file happens entirely in your browser and is never sent to a server.

Does this support materials and colors from a .mtl file?

Not yet — the model is displayed in a single default color regardless of any material or texture data the OBJ file references. This tool focuses on checking shape and geometry.

Can I rotate the model with my mouse?

Yes. Drag to rotate, scroll to zoom, and right-click-drag (or two-finger drag) to pan.

The model looks dark or oddly shaded.

Some OBJ files don't include vertex normal data. When that's missing, this tool automatically computes normals from the geometry so lighting still looks correct.
