Base64 Decode
Decode Base64 text.
Usage examples
Checking a Base64 value inside an API response
When a server response or a JWT token has a Base64-encoded value buried in it, paste it in to see the original text right away.
Unpacking an encoded value from a config file
If an environment variable or config file stores a Base64 value, paste it here to see the original content instantly.
Decoding a URL-safe encoded value directly
URL-safe Base64 using - and _ can be pasted as-is — no need to convert it back to standard Base64 first.
Frequently asked questions
Is the text I paste sent to a server?
No. Decoding happens entirely in your browser, and what you paste is never sent to a server.
Why am I seeing an error?
You'll see an error if the input doesn't match the Base64 format (disallowed characters, wrong length), or if the decoded bytes aren't valid UTF-8 text — for example, if they're binary data like an image.
Can this decode URL-safe encoded values too?
Yes. URL-safe Base64 using - and _ is automatically recognized and converted back to standard Base64 before decoding.
Can it decode non-text data like images or files?
This tool only shows the result as text. If the decoded bytes aren't valid UTF-8 text, it shows an error — binary data such as images isn't supported.
